Oh my god you guys! Legally Blonde in Brisbane

If you know what I’m talking about when I say, “bend and snap” then it’s likely you’re a fan of the movie Legally Blonde, but what about the musical?

Legally Blonde the Musical has been bending and snapping on stages from Broadway to London’s West End for five years and now is Australia’s turn to sing to the infectious ‘oh my god you guys’ with a chorus of Elle Woods Delta Nu sorority sisters.

We caught up with Lucy Durack, who plays Elle Woods, on James street, New Farm in Brisbane for a touch of shopping (some bend and snap lessons) and a whole lot of gushing and gossiping about the show.

Last time we featured Lucy on the our South East Queensland Lifestyle show she was donning ruby slippers in the land of Oz. She played the Good Witch, Glinda, in Wicked’s Australian season and during her time performing the role she also spent a staggering 8 months going through rigorous auditions to land her dream role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical. I couldn’t think of a more perfect candidate!

‘Sometimes it gets a little grey where Elle stops and I begin,’ Lucy said declaring her shared interests with her character, their love of pink, their little dogs (she has a puppy named Takse) and I’d add some other similarities between them, both stunning, smart and driven.

Our mission for the day was shopping, something Elle Woods is an expert at and Lucy agreed that she would love to hit the shops on James Street. Honestly I had to divert my eyes from the sales as we strolled past some of the best fashion in Brisbane!

Thanks to Zimmermann, Camilla and Nat-Sui where we dropped in to film parts of the segement. We also finished up at Libertine Parfumerie where we’re found the perfect Legally Blonde signature scent, Spring Flower by Creed. It was made in the eighties specifically for Audry Heburn, but is Legally Blonde to a tee. Complete with a pink and gold bottle it was the perfect mix of fruity, fresh and and little bit complex! (and would be a great opening night gift, much better than flowers 🙂 )

Thanks Lucy for a great day, to Cinn from Cinnamon Watson publicity and of course the good people of James Street where I know Lucy will definitely be bringing some of the Legally Blonde girls to shop up a storm and maybe even pick up a few bottles of our newly declared Legally Blonde signature scent!

Another huge thank you to Lucy who was not only an absolute pleasure to work with but for being so kind to my sister Steff who came along on the shoot. She is a MASSIVE musical fan, or should I say expert, who was thrilled to be a part of it, so happy to get an autographed program and she’s even coming along to opening night! (thanks CInn, we’ll see you there!)

Steff stoked with her signed program

Buy tickets for Legally Blonde.

See you there!
